Before we get into the nitty gritty theorizing there are several concepts that must be understood.
Jouissnace: This word is untranslated french and the root of it comes from the french word for pleasure/joy. However there is a sexual connotation to the french that is absent from corresponding English words so it is left untranslated. Jouissance is a psychoanalytic concept set down by Lacan.
Jouissance inhabits that hazy place where the pleasure of something like an orgasm tips over the edge of supreme pleasure and enters the realm of pain.
